Vision

The other day my sister sent me a sermon preached by Michael Todd, called Vacant Vision.
I loved it so much I had to talk about it.
This sermon stirs up a call to action to identify the Vision that God has for your life and to live it out. Dream big and Imagine big then…
Write It Down and Live It Out.
The NIV version of this verse says,
"Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint; but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom’s instruction."
“Revelation” refers to words from God received by prophets. Now we can read those words and receive God’s message daily in the living word. The Bible was provided to us to guide our ways and to instruct us in all things. To live out God’s vision for our lives we must live in alignment with his laws-outside of them we will perish. Without vision, something dies that God wanted to Live.
So the ultimate questions is…..
Vision can be applied to multiple areas of our lives: marriage, church, work, hobbies, health, a project, a piece of art, an idea. Sit with God in prayer and write down the vision for all the areas of your life.
If you don't know what vision God has for you. Ask Him.
When you write it down it gives permission for it to happen.
Now, that you have a vision. It's time to prepare. Michael uses the metaphor of going on a trip. As we pack and prepare for a trip, we keep our destination in mind and pack our bags for the climate, culture, and activities we will encounter when we arrive- not our current situation. So in the same way begin to prepare for your vision to be lived out. And fill your life (or suitcase) with the things that you will need in the future.
If you aren't convinced yet that you should write down the vision for your life. Pastor Todd provides 6 advantages to vision.
Get a vision and make it plain. Let God refine the vision. Then... Live It Out.
If this has been something that sits with you and your wanting more. Go watch Michael Todd's sermon, Vacant Vision.
As you go a prayer for you...
Lord, I ask you to fill me up with your vision for my life. God fill me up and prepare me for the journey ahead. Fill me with the courage to say yes and begin to move in the direction that you have called me to. Make it clear. Fill me with strength to outlast doubt, to outlast opposition, and to outlast fear. I can not begin to imagine all that you have in store for me, but I know it is good, because you are good. Lord, I want to serve you in all things. I want to take your character as my own and glorify you. Give me direction and strength, as I begin to live out the call you have on my life. In your name I pray-Amen.
